Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech

Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • Day shift (5 days a week, 8 hours per day; approximately 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM)
  • Call required once every 9 weeks
  • Call on weekdays usually ends by 6 PM unless there is a late patient
  • Weekend call coverage from 8 AM to 5 PM for specific cases (GI bleeds, bio-leaks, VQs, brain death cases) with minimal call-ins historically
  • Work involves patient care in General Nuclear Medicine (routine studies such as Bones, Gastrics, Hepatos, Renals, etc.)
  • Nuclear Medicine experience is required; PET/CT experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Equipment used includes Siemens cameras (Symbia, Intevo SPECT/CT, Biograph MCT Flow PET/CT)
  • Good communication skills, attention to detail, and patient-centered care are essential
  • Local travelers within 75 miles are not accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Kentucky
  • Minimum of 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including county and national criminal, sex offender, FACIS III, education verification, and others must be current and compliant
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, updated annually (specific panels required)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
  • Immunizations and health screenings required and must be current:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual renewal for positives
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B immunity or declination updated annually
    • Varicella immunity or booster as needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption annually
    • COVID vaccination series or approved exemption (booster preferred but not required)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific acceptable mask types listed)
  • Two supervisor references verified within 6 months of start
  • Employment verification covering 7 years required, with explanations for any gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklists and competency exams must be current and valid for the duration of the contract
  • EKG pass/fail testing required for certain units (confirm if applicable)

  • Candidates must renew all expiring documents prior to clearance for assignment start
  • Call schedule and patient load are generally manageable with minimal after-hours demands
  • This is a travel assignment; local candidates within 75 miles are not eligible
