Job Description

• Must be willing and able to act as Charge Nurse when assigned (charge nurse differential applies).
• May be assigned to an Emergency Team during events, requiring staying onsite until the event passes or serving on a relief team.
• Patient diagnoses include migraines, seizures, chest pain, spinal abscesses, multiple sclerosis, upper respiratory infections, post spinal surgery, and post stroke care.
• Patient ratio expected: 1:4 or 1:5.
• Unit accepts first-time travelers but not for charge nurse positions.
• Epic electronic health record experience required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Louisiana
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Experience in Charge Nurse roles
• NURSYS verification

Work Schedule

• Weekend coverage every other weekend (approximately 4 weekends per 13-week contract).
• Average daily census: 29 patients.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted (except for charge nurse roles).
• Must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as directed by unit management.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific health and safety protocols, including COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemptions.
