Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide respiratory care with skills including adult critical care, emergency department support, patient transports, direct intubation and extubation, nasal airway placement and suctioning, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management.
• Experience with conditions such as ARDS, aspiration, bronchoscopy, COVID-19, cystic fibrosis, and pneumonia.
• Administer medications, aerosol mask treatments, nebulizers, and oxygen therapy.
• Use pulmonary function testing equipment.
• Neonatal/pediatric equipment and procedures experience preferred but not required.
• Rotation schedule includes every other or every third weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday).
• No on-call responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
• Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• Experience working with Neonate patients
• Adult critical care experience
• Emergency department experience
• Transport experience
• Direct intubation
• Extubation
• Nasal airway placement and suctioning
• Tracheostomy management
• ARDS experience
• Aspiration management
• Bronchoscopy experience
• Experience with Epic

Preferred Skills and Experience

• NICU experience preferred.
• Experience with neonatal/pediatric respiratory equipment and procedures.
• Familiarity with critical care and emergency department respiratory protocols.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver's License or State ID).
• Criminal background check within 12 months prior to start.
• Negative drug screen within 12 months prior to start.
• Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health.
• Immunization or immunity documentation for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination), and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption.
• TB testing (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest X-ray if prior positive.
• OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start.
• Fit testing for respirators will be completed onsite during orientation.
• Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and agreements prior to start.
• Post-start orientation checklists to be completed during orientation.
• References: Two professional references required for new candidates.
• Skills checklist required.

• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Candidates must complete all required facility-specific training modules and sign confidentiality and ethical conduct agreements.
• Flu and COVID vaccination documentation or approved exemptions are required.
• Fit test results must be submitted within two weeks of start date to avoid risk of removal from assignment.
• Candidates will be fit tested onsite during the first week of orientation.
• Background checks and state-specific searches will be conducted as required.
• Candidates must complete all required post-start orientation checklists within the first week of assignment.
