Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Position located in an outpatient surgery center adjacent to the main facility.
• Specialty focus: Strong ophthalmology background required.
• Patient ratio: 1:4
• Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)
• Scheduling requests for additional employment will not be considered.
• No weekend requirement.
• No on-call duties.
• Block scheduling not accommodated.
• Local radius: 50 miles.

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
• Minimum 3 years of preoperative nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
• Experience in PreOp and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
• Strong ophthalmology experience required.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Certifications Required

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• CAPA (Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse) preferred but not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years; must be updated annually.
• Education verification required for nursing degree.
• Drug screening: 9-panel drug screen within 12 months of start. Instant tests acceptable if paired with attestation.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation.
• Immunizations and health screenings required:

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (annual updates required)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccination record preferred (declinations not required)
• Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use.
• Drug screen attestation required if instant drug screen is used.

Additional Requirements

• References: Minimum of 2 references covering at least 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty or setting.
• Employment application covering at least the last 5 years of employment.
• Skills checklist updated annually (applicable units only).
• Photo for badge (passport style with neutral background).
• Completion of annual regulatory and specialty-specific training modules via LMS.
• Must submit all requested time-off (RTO) at time of application; maximum 5 days allowed.
• Facility may call off staff once per two-week pay period.

• Acute care hospital setting with 320 staffed beds.
• Charting system: Meditech.
• Free parking available.
• Scrub color for RNs: Royal Blue.
