Orthopedic Tech - Travel/Contract Position

Job Description

• Must have experience as a Cast Tech.
• May be required to float to other nearby clinics (Carmel Valley, Oceanside, Rancho Bernardo, Encinitas), but no mid-shift floating.
• Work primarily in surgical services with orthopedic focus.

Required Qualifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or RQI).
• Orthopedic Tech experience (Cast Tech specifically).
• Valid California state license appropriate for Orthopedic Tech role (primary source verification required within 30 days of start).
• Proof of negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months of start, with annual updates as required.
• COVID-19 vaccination required or approved medical/religious exemption on file.
• Tdap vaccine required; declinations not accepted.
• Fit-tested N95 mask within 1 year of start date (specific approved mask models required).
• 9-panel drug test within 1 year of start date.
• Physical exam within 12 months of start.
• Completion of facility-specific learning modules (approx. 8 hours) prior to start.
• Two satisfactory professional references.
• Employment application and skills checklist required.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, county/state/federal/national criminal and sex offender searches, and HHS/OIG clearance.
• Vaccine attestation form must be completed regardless of vaccination status.
• Flu vaccination or agency flu declination required annually during flu season.

Certifications & Training

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required for all clinical positions.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification, and other certifications are not required for this role.
• No scrub color requirement; scrubs provided by facility.

Additional Information

• Facility uses EPIC and Cerner electronic health records; 6 months or more experience preferred for clinical staff.
• Must complete and sign facility-specific documents including Standards of Conduct, Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement prior to start.
• Pyxis acknowledgment required for RNs and Respiratory Care Practitioners, not applicable here.
• No radiation badge required for this position.
• Flu vaccinations available free of charge at employee health clinics for contractors.

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an Orthopedic Tech with cast tech experience, working day shifts in surgical services. The role requires multiple health and background clearances, certifications, and completion of facility-specific training modules. Candidates must be prepared to float to nearby clinics on different days but not during shifts. Compliance with vaccination and drug testing policies is mandatory.
