Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Pediatrics

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

• Evening/Night shifts (8 or 12 hours):

  • 1900-0730
  • 1500-2330
  • 2300-0730
• Approximately 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and holidays required
• One on-call shift every 6-week schedule period

Job Description

• Provide respiratory therapy services for both pediatric and adult patients
• Must have experience working in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or a hospital of similar size

Required Qualifications

Experience & Licensure

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Experience working with pediatric and adult patients
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or a hospital of similar size
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
• National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
• Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background check within 90 days prior to start, including multi-location search for past 7 years
• Education verification required for Respiratory Therapist program
• State-specific caregiver screening for Wisconsin within 90 days of start
• Drug screening per standard clinical requirements
• Physical exam (to meet agency standard)
• Immunizations and health documents:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (proof of one adult Tdap required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical or religious exemptions accepted
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or documented declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
  • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in Microbiology department

Testing & Competency

• Facility-specific telemetry testing may be required depending on unit assignment
• Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams required

• References: Two clinical references within the last 3 years required (agency standard)
• Employment application required for all candidates
• Photo for badge must meet specific guidelines (passport-style, no headwear except for religious/medical reasons)
