Job Description

• Specialty: Medical-Surgical Nursing
• Patient Ratios:

  • Days: 1:5-6
  • Nights: 1:6-7
• Required Licenses & Certifications:

  • New York RN License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • EPIC experience required
• Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical-Surgical specialty
• RTO (Return to Office): Only one holiday allowed; total time off 7 days or less
• Local Radius: 75 miles (local candidates accepted at a reduced rate)

Required Credentials & Compliance

• Licenses & Certifications:

  • NY State RN License (primary source verification required)
  • BLS (AHA strongly preferred)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) if applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification (for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, and 7th Floor Med/Surg Unit)
  • Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York state required, annual)

• Background Checks:

  • Standard 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide sex offender registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual)
  • Education verification required

• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (specific N95 masks required)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Quantiferon Gold accepted; Tspot not accepted)
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:

    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
    • Varicella (titer, vaccine, or history of chickenpox)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination required
  • 9 Panel Drug Screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)

Competency Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)
• Color Blind Testing (one-time, no expiration)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, PCU, ER, CT ICU, 7th Floor Med/Surg; expires every 3 years)
• Competency Exam as applicable to profession (minimum 80% or meet Angoff score)

Additional Requirements

• Professional References:

  • 2 references for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles
  • 1 reference for per diem non-acute care roles
  • Not required for non-clinical roles
  • References must be within 3 years of start date
• Skills Checklist: Required annually
• Facility-specific documents and training modules must be completed prior to first shift
• Photo for badge (professional headshot) required
