Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (OR RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Salem, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (OR RN)
- Shift: Day shift, 4 x 10 hour shifts (variable start times: 07:00-17:30, 09:00-19:30, 11:00-21:30)
- Additional shifts: Weekday night call shifts (8 hours, 23:00-07:00), weekend scheduled and call shifts (10-12 hours)
- Schedule: 5-6 shifts of call and/or weekend scheduled shifts per 6-week schedule
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Prior travel experience: Not required (1st time travelers allowed)
- Required experience: 2 years in specialty
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Preferred (AHA only)
- Other certifications may be relevant depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC) but are not explicitly required for this role.
Required Documents & Compliance
- Valid state license verification (NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start)
- Background checks including:
- Criminal background check (7-year search, within 90 days of start)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (within 30 days of start and ongoing)
- International background check if applicable
- Education verification (not required for licensed RNs)
- Competency exams:
- General competency exam (80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (85% passing score) required for some units, preferred for others
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (can start with physical pending)
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine or facility-specific declination
- Flu vaccine or signed declination (year-round requirement)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B immunization or titer documentation as applicable
Additional Requirements
- Telemetry skills required for all RNs regardless of unit
- Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start (white background)
- Fit mask testing to be completed onsite within the first week of starting (not required for some non-clinical roles)
Work Environment & Notes
- Variable weekday shifts with some night call and weekend shifts
- Facility-specific dress code and scrub color requirements
- Completion of required HealthStream modules prior to or by start date
- References: 2 references within last 2 years showing 1 year in comparable specialty, with at least one supervisory reference within last 12 months
This position is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in the specialty and who are open to a 13-week travel contract in Oregon. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
