Required Experience & Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical Surgical/Oncology)
• Certifications Required:

  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Fire Safety Certification
• Additional Requirements:

  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Experience with Medical/Surgical/Oncology patients
• On-call: Not required

Licensure

• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
• Primary source verification of professional license required (NURSYS verification for Missouri licenses)

Compliance & Background Checks

• Criminal background check within 6 months required (7-year search including statewide and nationwide checks)
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
• Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
• Fingerprinting required for assignments in Illinois long-term care or rehab units (not applicable here)
• State-specific searches and registries as applicable

Certifications & Competencies

• Unit-specific competency exam required annually, including Oncology competency exam
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
• Additional certifications may be required based on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, EFM) – verify with unit description
• CPI or Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification if applicable

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination required
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (two negative PPDs or T-Spot/Q-Gold acceptable)
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity required (positive titer, vaccination, or medical statement)
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, must include specific panels and be valid throughout assignment
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)

Facility Specific Requirements

• Must complete facility-specific documents including:

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire
  • Confidentiality Form
  • Regulatory Compliance Education (annual quiz with 80% passing score)
  • Hepatitis B declination (facility-specific)
  • TB Questionnaire (annual)
  • Hand Hygiene and Fingernail Policies acknowledgment
  • Dress Code Policy acknowledgment
  • Orientation modules (approx. 16 hours via WorkRamp) required for all RNs and LVNs

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred, within last year)
• Employment application must be completed and uploaded
• Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start, including Oncology skills checklist for this unit
• Performance evaluations may be requested but are not mandatory for extensions or per diem

This position offers an acute care hospital environment with 233 staffed beds, utilizing EPIC for charting. Parking is free. The role requires strong oncology nursing skills and the ability to work night shifts with weekend rotation.
