Surgical Technologist 1 - Operating Room

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Allied Health
Shift: Day (4x10-hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
On Call: Required

Job Summary

• Maintain a sterile environment by applying principles of asepsis.
• Assist with surgical procedures including scrubbing, room turnover, and setup.
• Organize and coordinate supplies and equipment to ensure efficiency.
• Maintain and clean surgical instruments and equipment, documenting sterilization processes.
• Provide age-specific patient care following department policies.
• Support positioning of patients and assist with obtaining necessary supplies and devices.
• Precept medical students, residents, and other learners during scrubbing duties.
• Adhere to safety, legal, and hospital/unit policies to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Surgical Technologist license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• An Associate's Degree in Surgical Technology or a Certificate of completion from a Surgical Technology program
• Experience as a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) Technologist
