Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR)

Location: Springfield, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, 3 shifts of 12 hours each, Friday through Sunday
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours
Call Requirements: Approximately 5 or fewer calls every 8 weeks
Weekend Hours: As required by facility


Job Description

  • Provide direct patient care for all age groups including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Assist with Vascular Surgeon in OR and Hybrid Imaging suite.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of nurses and surgical techs for Endovascular and Open cases.
  • Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care and maintain professional accountability.
  • Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments to optimize outcomes and comfort.
  • Maintain patient rights and confidentiality.
  • Perform duties consistent with nursing practice guidelines, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and facility standards.

Unit Information

  • Main OR with 22 beds, Ambulatory Surgery Center with 8 beds, Orthopedics with 10 beds.
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • Equipment includes various types, including DaVinci surgical robot.
  • Electronic Medical Record system: EPIC
  • Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Missouri
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multiple years of Level 1 trauma experience.
  • Highly motivated self-starter personality.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Stand and walk most of the shift.
  • Lift and push patients on stretchers and wheelchairs.
  • Work primarily in a clean, air-conditioned environment.
  • Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, and occasional kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Additional Requirements

  • Flu vaccination required from November 1 through April 1; declinations are not accepted.
  • Dress code requires black scrubs; unprofessional attire such as jeans is not allowed.
