Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU (Cardiac)

Unit & Patient Population

• Unit: Cardiac ICU (CVSD floor)
• Number of beds: 11
• Patient type: Post cardiac surgery patients
• Patient ratio: 4:1
• Equipment: GE monitors
• EMR system: Cerner

Schedule

• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (3x12)
• Guaranteed hours: 36 per week
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
• Call: None

Required Certifications and Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Alabama
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, including experience within the last year
• Cardiac/cardiovascular surgery experience
• ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Float Requirements

• May be required to float to other ICUs and occasionally to medical-surgical units

Skills & Personality Fit

• Must have cardiac/cardiovascular surgery experience
• Preferred: strong cardiac skillset
• Personality: outgoing

Dress Code

• Scrub color: Navy
• No fleece allowed
