Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical
Location: Oxford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Description
- Work on a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit (Telemetry technicians are separate).
- Some weekends and holidays required.
- Required skills include IV start.
- Experience with MEDITECH EMR is a plus but not required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, required prior to start and must be maintained throughout the assignment.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Proof of identity (government-issued photo ID) and eligibility to work (I9, E-Verify).
- Background check: 7-year criminal history, education verification, and ongoing updates as required.
- NURSYS verification for RN license.
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months prior to start.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer, vaccination, or declination).
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination).
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccination, or declination).
- Drug screening: 9-panel drug test within the last 12 months (instant acceptable).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
Additional Requirements
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations.
- Completion of skills checklist annually for applicable units.
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
- Acknowledgement of orientation safety manual and HIPAA compliance.
Notes
- Candidates requesting religious or medical exemptions for flu vaccination must complete facility-specific exemption forms with appropriate documentation.
- Performance evaluations required if previously employed with the facility for over 1 year (clinical) or 2 years (internal).
This position offers an opportunity to work in a combined Medical-Surgical and Telemetry environment with a supportive team and structured compliance requirements. Night shift availability and flexibility for some weekends/holidays are essential.
