Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Weekdays and weekends; blocked schedule with limited guarantee on requests

Job Details

• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 5-7 patients
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner
• Scrubs: Not provided
• Start Date: ASAP
• Possible contract extension available
• Attendance: Facility allows only 2-3 call-offs per contract due to prior attendance issues

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during work hours)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG verifications
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands (initial and annual updates)
• Immunizations and titers (within required timeframes or signed declinations accepted where noted):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years preferred)
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD within 1 year or equivalent)
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (titers or vaccinations)
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
• Drug screening: 10-panel within 30 days of start and updated annually
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination required
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 13 – Apr 1); declinations not permitted without exemption approval

Orientation and Training

• Completion of Cerner EMR training modules prior to orientation (modules provided by facility)
• Completion of facility-specific Care Learning Modules before start date
• ReadySet (RS) online health assessment surveys must be completed by facility deadlines
• Competency exams and core training parts I, II, and III required
• Color blindness testing required

Additional Notes

• Workers Compensation documentation preferred but not required
• Point of Care Technician application required only for Cath Lab RNs (not applicable here)
• Facility enforces strict attendance and compliance policies; candidates should be prepared to meet these expectations
