Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 12-hour shifts starting at 0645, with occasional floats to 0845, 1045, and nights (no more than 3 night shifts per contract)
  • Unit: Operating Room, Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Cases: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic Surgery
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, as needed per unit
  • On-Call Requirement: Approximately 3 shifts per 8-week schedule period
  • Float Requirement: Yes, must float within scope to other Operating Rooms as needed
  • First-Timers: Not accepted (no first-time travelers)

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
  • OR experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Important Notes

  • Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved during the contract
  • RTO not allowed during specific holiday periods (late December, mid-March, early May)
  • Candidates must be able to meet all required competencies and certifications as per facility standards

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • I9 or Attestation
  • Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Proof of Name Change (if applicable)
  • Background Check (7-year, including SSN trace, state and federal checks, education verification)
  • Education Verification (accredited nursing school)
  • Various competency exams (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III, OSHA) updated annually
  • Health documents including:
    • Physical exam within 1 year
    • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually
    • Immunizations and titers: TDAP, TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug testing within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific exemption during flu season
    • COVID vaccination proof or signed declination
    • Color Blind Exam (Ishihara test) prior to start date
  • References: 2 references from last 2 years, including one from the last year, from charge RN, manager, or supervisor
  • Employment history verification for last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • State-specific CAPS check results within 60 days of start

Additional Information

  • Prior travel experience is required: first-time travelers are not accepted for this role
  • Candidates must have experience working in a Level 1 or 2 trauma center OR environment
  • Epic electronic health record experience is mandatory
