Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Shift: Nights
- Duration: 8 weeks only
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), including experience within the last year
- Completion of 2 or more travel nursing assignments
- Certifications required:
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Harassment Prevention Training
Additional Requirements
- Must complete and maintain the following certifications (AHA strongly preferred):
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Harassment Prevention Training Certificate (New York specific, annual)
- Competency exams as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and EKG/dysrhythmia exams for ICU/PCU/ER staff
- Background checks including 7-year history and annual updates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (specific mask types required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start date
- Immunization or proof of immunity for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug screening (9 panel) within 1 year of start date
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season
- Pneumonia vaccination or declination required
Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID required
- Emergency contact form required prior to start
- Education verification and professional references (2 for travel/allied/per diem acute care) within 3 years of start
- Completion of facility-specific online learning modules prior to first shift
- Signed job description and welcome packet acknowledgment required
Notes
- Local radius for travel is 75 miles; local travelers accepted
- This position requires strong NICU clinical skills and prior travel nursing experience
- All certifications and documentation must be current and verifiable before start date
