Job Opportunity: Radiation Therapist

Location: Salem, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday through Friday, between 6am and 7pm (40 hours per week)
Start Date: ASAP
Call: No call required


Job Description

As a Radiation Therapist, you will simulate and administer radiation treatments to patients as prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist and directed by the Radiation Physicist and Dosimetrist. Key responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting prescriptions and treatment plans
  • Completing patient identification processes
  • Maintaining audio and visual surveillance of patients during treatment
  • Accurately positioning patients for treatment
  • Imaging patients as directed
  • Annotating portal images appropriately
  • Observing and reporting patient side-effects or unusual reactions
  • Documenting treatment positions and tattoos on patient’s skin
  • Safely transferring patients using proper body mechanics
  • Performing simple RadCalc calculations for emergency treatments
  • Constructing quality immobilization devices
  • Tattooing patients safely and accurately
  • Participating in daily chart rounds to coordinate care
  • Completing chart checks and weekly cleaning tasks
  • Fabricating custom blocks
  • Coordinating simulation with clinic to support continuity of care

The work environment is fast-paced, treating 70-95 patients per day on three treatment machines.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiation Therapist license in Oregon
  • ARRT National Radiology License
  • Oregon Board of Medical Imaging (OBMI) State licensure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum 1 year of Radiation Therapy experience within the last year
  • Successful completion of a Radiation Therapy program
  • Experience with Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT)
  • Experience with Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS)
  • Familiarity with Breathhold Visual Management

Additional Requirements

  • Physical exam within one year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year of start
  • Drug testing (10 panel) within 90 days of start
  • Immunizations or titers for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (or declination)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination/booster series in process)
    • Varicella
  • Background checks including criminal history and federal exclusions
  • Competency exams as required
  • Badge photo submission prior to start
  • Fit mask testing onsite within first week of start (if applicable)

Notes

  • No prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position.
  • No call responsibilities.
  • Fast-paced environment with high patient volume.
