Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Wound Care

Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Patient Age Group

  • Pediatrics

Required Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in nursing with wound care expertise

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Wound Care Certification from ABWM or NAWCO preferred (pending certification may be considered if applicant has strong wound care/ostomy skills)

Licensure

  • Valid Arizona RN license or Compact RN license

Job Description / Responsibilities

  • Independently manage wound care consults and assessments
  • Stage wounds and recommend treatment plans
  • Maintain strong documentation in electronic health records (EPIC)
  • Educate staff and collaborate effectively as a subject matter expert in wound care

Schedule Requirements

  • Blocked schedule
  • Weekend shifts required every other weekend

Orientation

  • Bi-weekly orientation sessions

Required Qualifications and Compliance Documents

  • Current and valid driver’s license, government photo ID, or passport
  • Background checks within 1 year of start date, including criminal and employment verifications
  • Primary source verification of nursing license within 30 days prior to start, must be current and unencumbered
  • Education verification (diploma or official transcripts)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming good health and ability to perform job duties
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers as required, including but not limited to:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test (Qgold or Tspot within 1 year) or chest X-ray if history of positive TB
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination proof
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Drug testing with negative results within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • References and employment application covering last 7 years of employment
  • Skills checklist current within 1 year

Additional Notes

  • First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates are also considered
  • Strong documentation and communication skills are essential
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position

This role is ideal for an experienced RN with specialized wound care skills who is comfortable working independently and educating others in a collaborative healthcare environment.
