MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours
  • Workdays: Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon
  • Locals allowed at same rate
  • Preferred experience with McKesson and required experience with EPIC systems
  • Level 1 required

Required Qualifications

  • MRI Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience with Epic systems
  • Valid permanent Virginia state license for MRI Technologists (ARRT required; AMRIT not acceptable)
  • Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA only)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA only)
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (refer to unit job descriptions)
  • Completion of required competency exams (e.g., Sonography or Vascular Tech competency exam accepted)
  • Color blindness testing required
  • Abuse reporting competency covering physical/sexual abuse, domestic violence, and neglect/exploitation of vulnerable adults
  • Proof of diploma or degree from an accredited program
  • Background checks including criminal history, education verification, and federal/state exclusions
  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
  • Required immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
    • Negative TB test (Q-gold/T-spot within 30 days of start or two PPDs with chest X-ray if positive)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers with booster if low titer
    • Hepatitis B titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening within 60 days of start (9-panel minimum, instant screens not accepted)
  • Completion of orientation modules and facility-specific exams (pharmacology, point of care testing, mask fitting, BKAT for applicable units)
  • Two professional references required
  • Complete application/resume required

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 60 days of start, including:
    • All states lived/worked in past 7 years
    • State of permanent residence check
    • Statewide repository search (VA)
    • Sex offender registry
    • Nationwide FACIS Level 3
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Virginia State Police fingerprinting required for certain units; results can pend if proof of submission is on file
  • Central Registry Search (CPS) required within 48 hours of contract signing for applicable units; candidates may start with results pending if submission proof is on file
  • HIPAA confidentiality agreement required prior to start
  • Candidates must bring mask (cloth acceptable), non-wireless headphones, and laptop or cell phone to orientation (notify if not available)

Additional Notes

  • No onsite certification renewals; renewals must be scheduled prior to contract start
  • Certifications expiring within 1 month of contract start are not accepted
  • Candidates can start with pending fingerprinting and CPS results if proof of submission is documented
  • Orientation includes assigned learning modules to be completed by end of orientation week (approx. 6 hours)
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
