Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Knoxville, Tennessee

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Level I Emergency Department)
  • Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: 3 PM - 3 AM
  • Ratios: 4:1 patient to nurse ratio
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
  • Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
  • Block Schedule: Accommodations possible
  • Locals: Candidates within 25-mile radius may be considered in urgent need situations
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Considered at interview

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • First-timers: May be considered based on previous experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of I9 or Attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID (must be carried during hours of service)
  • Proof of E-Verify or Attestation
  • Residency Declaration Form (if working on a compact license)
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal check within 1 year of start, updated annually
    • Federal and international searches required
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education Verification (highest degree earned)
  • State License Verification (Primary Source)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
  • Competency Exams as applicable (Medication/Pharmacology, Core Parts I-III)
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA compliance)

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam (within last 12 months)
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (TDAP)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series or positive titer; declinations accepted only under specific circumstances)
    • Varicella (Chickenpox)
    • Hepatitis A (required for ED staff)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (QGOLD or Tspot within 3 months or 2 PPDs)
  • TB Questionnaire (required annually)
  • Drug Testing:
    • 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
    • Alcohol test included in 10 panel screen for facility
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required annually (Oct 1 - Mar 31)

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (recent, plain background, shoulders up, no filters)
  • Fit Testing Form (for respiratory protection)
  • Parking Form (facility-specific)
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years for travel positions
  • Employment Application/Resume
  • Skills Checklist (updated annually)
  • Performance and Internal Evaluations if previously employed at facility
