Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (06:50 - 19:20)
Schedule includes call requirement: 2 shifts per 6-week schedule
Every other weekend required
Float required between mother/baby and scrub roles

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
Current certifications required at time of application submission:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience in charge nurse roles
Scrub experience
Experience with Cerner electronic health record (EHR) system

Job Requirements & Responsibilities

Provide labor and delivery nursing care
Float between mother/baby and scrub roles as needed
Participate in call schedule and weekend coverage

Compliance & Documentation

Valid driver's license required if driving is an essential job function
Must complete background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal/state screenings within 90 days of start
Drug screen required within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job without accommodations and free from communicable disease
Immunization and health documentation required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Documentation of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Sept-Mar)
N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually (client may complete onsite)
Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start date

Competency Requirements

Medication/pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score prior to start and updated every 3 years
Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for applicable units (not specifically required for this role unless assigned to those units)
Color blindness testing required (online or in-person)

References & Work History

Two positive supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment, supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
Verification of at least 2 years of employment in the past 7 years required

Additional Notes

Candidates without C-EFM certification may submit with AWHONN as a placeholder but must register for C-EFM course for clearance
Facility requires photo for badge with specific guidelines (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
Annual safety manual acknowledgment required
Must comply with all facility-specific policies and documentation requirements prior to start
