Registered Nurse - ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36

Unit & Work Environment

Primarily assigned to Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with floating to ICU and Medical-Surgical (MS) units as needed
Patient ratio: 1:4-5
Unit size: 21 beds
Care includes non-titrating drips (Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, Cardene), vascular cases (fem-pop, CEA), NSTEMI, post-cardiac cath with intervention, CIWA protocol with IVP Ativan, peritoneal dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high flow <80%, home ventilators (Trilogy), wound care, nebulizers, and hemodialysis in dialysis department
Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
Dress code: Royal Blue and White scrubs

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in South Carolina
Minimum of 1 year ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
Stepdown experience
ACLS certification
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Orientation & Training

Orientation every Wednesday
Orientation occurs every other week (EOW)
Completion of approximately 81 Relias modules prior to first shift and orientation (includes non-clinical modules)
Badge photo required (no hats, sunglasses, filters, or altered images)

Background & Compliance Requirements

Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during hours of service
Criminal background check required within 6 months prior to start for candidates signed before 12/14/25; within 30 days for candidates signed on/after 12/14/25
EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals/extensions
Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification required
Proof of 2 clinical references required
Performance evaluation required if previously completed assignments through any agency
Complete employment application/resume and skills checklist (updated annually) required
Internal evaluation required if worked with the agency for over 2 years

Health & Immunization Requirements

Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands of position
Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 1 year) or annual TB questionnaire on file
Tdap vaccine within 10 years or facility-specific declination
Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines plus 2 boosters or declination
Hepatitis B: positive titer or vaccine series required; declination form required if negative
Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines plus 2 boosters or declination
Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination required year-round
COVID vaccination or facility-specific declination required
Drug testing: 10-panel within 6 months prior to start for candidates signed before 12/14/25; within 30 days for candidates signed on/after 12/14/25 (instant tests not accepted)

Additional Notes

Patient care involves stable patients with some complex cardiac and respiratory needs
Floating across multiple units requires flexibility and adaptability
Must comply with facility-specific confidentiality and data access agreements
Must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced Stepdown/ICU RNs comfortable with floating and managing a variety of cardiac and respiratory patient care needs in a travel contract setting.
