Registered Nurse – Operating Room

Location: Shreveport, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Hours per week: 40 hours
  • Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend every 6 weeks
  • Call: Possible call shifts, which may include weekends (details discussed during interview)
  • Holiday Coverage: As needed
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during emergency events, requiring extended stay or relief duties as assigned by unit manager

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with recent OR experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid, current Driver’s License or government-issued photo ID (color copy required)
  • Background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal background check (within 90 days of start)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks (updated monthly)
    • Sex offender search (updated monthly)
    • Education verification or transcript/diploma if verification unavailable
  • License verification within 30 days of start; renewals must be in process if expiring soon
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within 1 year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (instant screenings not accepted)
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap (for select departments)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or completed vaccine series)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or booster)
    • Varicella (positive titer, vaccine series, or booster)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination, declination, or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • Employment application and updated skills checklist (annual)
  • Color passport-style photo for badge within 24 hours of booking

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency event assignments and extended shifts as directed by unit management.
  • Certification requirements may vary by unit; confirm with program management if unclear.
  • CPI certification must be completed onsite during orientation if required by unit.
  • All certifications must be current or renewed prior to start date if expiring within 30 days.
