Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Full-time Telemetry RN position on a cardiovascular medical-surgical unit (38 beds) with emphasis on cardiovascular disease.
- Schedule options: 3x12 or 4x12 hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), with option for 36 or 48 hours per week.
- Work every other weekend required.
- Team nursing approach with a ratio of 1 RN to 7 patients, supported by LPNs and Nursing Assistants.
- No call requirement.
- Floating to other units may be required based on facility needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in West Virginia
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, with telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Orientation & Training
- Orientation held every other week on Thursdays and Fridays (2 days).
- Includes Cerner Infusion Management training.
- Pass/fail testing required for EKG, medication calculation, and blood administration. Two attempts allowed per exam.
- Annual completion of stroke education hours may be required depending on unit assignment.
- Candidates must complete required inservice training modules approximately 1 week before start (approx. 4 hours).
- Review of facility-specific documents such as blood administration policy, dress code, math calculation packet, and EKG review required prior to start (review only, no testing at orientation).
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by a licensed provider, confirming good health and no limitations.
- Annual fit mask testing (N95) required; accommodations available if candidate fails fit testing.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity:
- Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) – no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval.
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – 2 vaccines or positive titers required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal.
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titers required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal.
- Hepatitis B – documented series or positive titer required; declination allowed if series completed and titer negative.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 – March 31) unless approved medical or religious exemption is granted.
- COVID-19 vaccination is not required; proof of vaccination or signed declination accepted.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel; no placeholders or pending results accepted.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and social security card required.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, sex offender search, and national/international checks if applicable.
- Annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required, completed independently by candidate.
- Completion of facility-specific forms including application, delegate, liability, and time gap forms required before privileges can be granted.
- Candidates cannot return as travelers within 2 years of last permanent employment at this facility.
