Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Details

Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Patient Ratios: Based on acuity
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-call: No
Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in South Carolina
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)

Scheduling & Hours

Guaranteed hours with allowance for 1 shift off every 2 weeks
Block scheduling requests require manager approval

Important Notes

Hurricane Season: June through November; employees may be assigned to emergency response teams during this period. Avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (August-September) if this is a concern.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Must include SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
- Background check must be run within 90 days of start
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
Licensure Verification:
- Primary source verification of active, unencumbered SC RN license or compact license
- NURSYS verification required
- Temporary licensure ("walk-through") process available for SC license if no prior background issues
Health & Immunization:
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually, confirming ability to work without restrictions
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Required immunizations or positive titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31), or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
Respirator Clearance:
- Annual medical clearance via RespSafety virtual questionnaire required
References & Work History:
- Proof of 2 clinical references required, including at least one from the unit of assignment
- Verification of last 3 clinical employers required (or all if fewer than 3)
Facility-Specific Requirements:
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
- Submission of a clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Completion of confidentiality, security, contractor forms, and job description acknowledgment prior to start
- Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system
