Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Garfield Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Provide nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit during night shifts.
Must complete ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety (SafeMedicate) competency exams during orientation with passing scores.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Ohio.
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
ACLS certification.
Willingness to obtain NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification prior to start.

Required Documentation & Compliance

Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment.
Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) within 12 months, updated annually. Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.
Primary source verification of RN license within 30 days of start.
Nursys verification within 30 days of start.
Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions.
Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually.
Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed.
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination.
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed.
- Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval).
Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out the candidate.
Modules typically take multiple days to complete and must be finished before clearance to start.
Candidates returning after a break longer than 6 months must complete modules again.
Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).

References & Employment History

Two professional references required from employment within one year of start, from a manager, ANM, supervisor, charge nurse, or director.
Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty.

Additional Notes

All requirements and scheduling details are non-negotiable and must be confirmed at submission.
Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
Candidates must maintain compliance with all health and licensing requirements throughout the assignment.
Passing scores required on medication administration and ECG interpretation exams during orientation (SafeMedicate 90%, ECG 80%).
Candidates with gaps less than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may be exempt from some orientation testing and module requirements.
