Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Outpatient Surgery

Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (4x10 hours) | 6:45 AM – 5:15 PM
Hours per Week: 40 hours
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Unit Details

  • Position: Circulator RN for Outpatient Surgery
  • Call: 5 PM – 7 PM, 1 to 2 days per week for late cases
  • Floating: Within facility/scope of practice and to nearby hospital as needed
  • Weekend shifts: None

Required Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
  • First-time travel nurses accepted (no prior travel experience required)

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Outpatient Surgery

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start, including education verification
  • State license verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Annual NURSYS verification within 30 days prior to start
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (required by agency, not client)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months prior to start; if prior positive TB, additional documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Tdap highly recommended but not required
    • Flu vaccine or signed declination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Mar 31)

Orientation & Onboarding

  • Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Full compliance with all documentation and certifications required to start on time
  • If not compliant, start date may be delayed by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling

Work Expectations

  • If one major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it
  • If two major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work both
  • If three major holidays fall during assignment, traveler is expected to work two of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Additional Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required by agency (not client)
  • Color Blind Testing required; alternative assessment available if needed
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for certain specialties (verify if applicable)
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months required
  • Verification of most recent work history required (can be pending at start with proof it is in process)
  • Two clinical references required by agency (not client)

Notes

  • Locals accepted at same rate as travelers
  • Floating assignments may include coverage at nearby hospital within scope of practice
  • Candidate profile reviewed by manager within 48 hours of confirmation to ensure fit for unit/schedule/expertise
