Assignment Length
13 weeks
Unit / Setting
- Rotates between inpatient behavioral health and the psychiatric ED
- Floats between two inpatient psych units
- Daytime staffing ratio: 1:1
- Patient ratio experience required: 1:6
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Psychiatric (2 years of experience)
- Psychiatric experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Preferred Qualifications
- CPI
- MAB
Required Experience / Skills
- Experience with inpatient psych, locked units, eating disorders, and substance use / chemical dependency
- Experience caring for patients with anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, psychotic disorders, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, suicidal behavior, self-injurious behavior, assaultive or violent behavior, and related behavioral health conditions
- Skills in de-escalation, crisis intervention, behavior management, seclusion protocols, physical holds, emergent chemical restraints, voluntary/involuntary commitment, medication administration, IV starts, blood glucose monitoring, lab value interpretation, and precepting
Additional Requirements
- Monthly unit-based aggressive patient management training
- Navy scrubs required; not provided
