Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- OR - Operating Room (3 years of experience)
- OR - Operating Room experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- PALS issued by American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Laparoscopic assisted bariatric cases
- General surgery cases: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, laparoscopic assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy partial/total, Whipple
- Neurology cases: cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
- Orthopedic cases: arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed reduction of fractures, open reduction of fractures
- Plastic surgery cases: free flap microvascular
- Organ donation experience
- Urology cases: cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy
- Malignant hyperthermia management
- Fiber optic light sources/cords operation
- Hana tables operation
Preferred
- CNOR certification
- Cerner experience
Schedule and Work Expectations
- Weekend coverage: 1 weekend per month
- On-call: 1 shift per week
- Floating may be required within skill set
- Block scheduling is not available
Clinical Experience Needed
- Bariatric laparoscopic-assisted cases
- General surgery: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, inguinal/umbilical hernia repair, laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, partial/total thyroidectomy, Whipple
- Neurology: cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion
- Orthopedics: arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed reduction of fractures, open reduction of fractures
- Plastic surgery: free flap microvascular
- Transplant: organ donation
- Urology: cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy
- Trauma: amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, motor vehicle accident with multiple injuries
- Emergency management: code response, fire safety, latex allergy, malignant hyperthermia
- Equipment/instrumentation: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables
- Professional skills: administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol time-out procedure, urinary bladder catheterization
