Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position at a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital requiring at least 2.5 years of OR experience and an active IL RN license.
Details
- Work in the Operating Room of a 562-bed acute care hospital with 23 rooms
- Support all service lines except cardiovascular (CV) surgery
- Day shift schedule of 4x10-hour shifts, 6:45 AM to 5:15 PM
- Weekend rotation required approximately once per month
- On-call requirement of approximately once per week
- Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Uses Cerner charting system
Requirements
- Active IL RN license in hand or in the application process required
- Minimum 2.5 years of Operating Room RN experience required
- BLS certification required; CNOR and CST certifications preferred
- AHA and Red Cross certifications accepted; RQI cards not accepted
- General OR and Trauma experience required
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Cerner charting experience preferred
- Required case experience across General Surgery, Neurology, Orthopedics, Urology, Trauma, Bariatrics, and Plastics (Free Flap-Microvascular)
- Required skills in emergency management including code response, fire safety, latex allergy, and malignant hyperthermia protocols
- Experience with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, and Hana tables required
- Proficiency in administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time-out) procedures, and urinary bladder catheterization required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
- Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
Additional Information
- Facility is a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated acute care hospital
- Scrubs are provided for this role
- Floating is required for all travelers, which may include floating within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
- Previous permanent or PRN employees of the hospital system must be separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
- All requested time off must be reviewed and approved by the manager
- Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved; anything beyond this requires facility approval
- Candidates must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
- Preferred experience in teaching hospital settings
