Job Summary

Provide nursing care under general supervision to patients with a range of health problems from simple to complex on a mixed cardiovascular unit. The unit includes 24 beds divided equally between Step-Down and Medical-Surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Manage an assigned group of patients.
• Document patient responses to nursing interventions and medical treatments.
• Assist physicians with patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures.
• Obtain and monitor physiological data; intervene as necessary.
• Administer medications, intravenous infusions, and blood products.
• Deliver competent patient care.
• Communicate care plans and hospital procedures to patients and families.
• Make referrals for patient care needs.
• Delegate tasks to support staff.
• May interpret EKGs, monitor rhythms and rates.
• Collaborate with cardiac rehabilitation, education, and discharge planning teams.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oklahoma.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within the last year.
• Experience in Cardiovascular Unit (CVU).
• Cardiology experience.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Familiarity with chest tubes.
• Familiarity with drips.
