Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse
Location: Elmira, New York
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 06:30 AM – 03:00 PM
Job Summary
As an Endoscopy Registered Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care to patients in the GI Lab / Endoscopy setting. Responsibilities include patient assessment, planning and implementing individualized care plans, documentation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. You will collaborate with healthcare team members and maintain standards of care, safety, and ethical practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing, systematic patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive status.
- Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses and expected patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement prioritized, goal-directed nursing care plans.
- Identify and address patient and family learning needs.
- Document care accurately and timely in patient records.
- Respond efficiently and calmly in emergency situations following protocols.
- Adhere to institutional policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Participate in staff development and maintain current nursing knowledge.
- Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Demonstrate accountability, ethical decision-making, and respect for patient rights.
- Utilize resources efficiently to prioritize patient care needs.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York.
- Minimum 2 years of Endoscopy experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist, updated annually.
- Passing score (80% or higher) on Core Competency Exams relevant to nursing.
- Fit testing for approved respirator models within the last 12 months.
- Proof of immunizations or immunity for:
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (or signed declination form)
- Influenza vaccine (or signed declination form with mask requirement)
- Tuberculosis testing (annual requirement with specific testing protocols)
- Physical/Health Statement dated within the last 12 months, including vital signs and vision screening, with no restrictions.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license or state ID (not expired).
- Background check within 30 days of start, including multi-county criminal searches and national checks.
- Drug screen within 30 days of start (9+ panel).
- Submission of a detailed resume covering the last 7 years of employment and education history.
- Two professional references: one supervisor reference from the last 12 months and one supervisor or peer reference from the last 3 years.
- Signed job description and other required professional documentation.
- Completion of agency-specific forms and acknowledgments related to conduct, harassment, parking, and assignment confirmation.
Additional Information
- COVID-19 vaccination proof or agency declination is optional but recommended.
- Tdap vaccination is preferred but not required; if declined, a specific declination form must be signed.
