Job Opportunity: RN Step Down

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) and every other holiday (EOH) schedule.
• Requires 2 years of experience in PCU (Progressive Care Unit) or Med-Surg Telemetry Acute Care.
• Placement will be on a unit with the greatest need, which may be PCU, Med/Surg, or Telemetry units based on the nurse’s skills.
• Candidates with Med/Surg or Stepdown RN experience are acceptable as both require the same credentialing.
• Must be willing and able to float within skill set to other units onsite or to sites within 40 miles if needed.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years of PCU (step-down) Acute Care experience
• Minimum 2 years of Med-Surg Telemetry (Acute Care) experience
• Experience in Med Surg / Telemetry nursing

Onboarding & Compliance Requirements

• Proof of immunizations and health screenings including:

  • MMR (2 doses or positive titer, no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella (2 doses or immunity verification, no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine during flu season (mask required if declined)
  • Tdap (valid within 10 years, no declinations accepted)
  • TB testing (2-step PPD or IGRA with annual questionnaire; chest X-ray if positive)
• Fit test for respiratory protection (3M 1860 or 1870+ masks) required annually.
• Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter.
• Background checks including criminal history and employment verification.
• Completion of specialty exams, core competencies, EKG exam, color vision test, and Epic system test-out prior to assignment.
• Health statement or physical exam confirming good health prior to first assignment and updated annually.
• Driver’s license or state ID (must be current and match address requirements).

Additional Notes

• Must be able to work flexible shifts and float as needed within the facility or nearby locations.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
• This role requires strong clinical skills in acute care telemetry and step-down nursing environments.
