Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Stepdown Unit

Job Description

• Work in a Stepdown unit with potential to float to similar patient care units including Emergency Department.
• Shift schedule: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week (7pm-7:30am / 7am-7:30pm), rotating shifts possible based on operational needs.
• Must work at least every other holiday.
• Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety testing; passing scores required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio.
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year.
• Current certifications required:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIHSS.
  • CVOR.
  • CST.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Progressive Care experience preferred but not required.
• Additional certifications such as PALS, TNCC, CNOR, or chemotherapy certification are not required but may be preferred depending on unit.

Additional Information

• Candidates must complete required online training modules prior to start.
• Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
• Candidates with gaps in employment greater than 6 months may need to repeat orientation and training modules.
• Competency exams for medication administration and ECG interpretation are required at orientation.
• Candidates must comply with all facility-specific onboarding and documentation requirements.

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in a Stepdown unit requiring at least 18 months of recent Stepdown nursing experience and a valid Ohio or compact RN license. The role involves rotating 12-hour shifts with holiday work expectations. Candidates must hold current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications and pass competency testing during orientation. Comprehensive health screenings, immunizations, background checks, and fingerprinting are mandatory. Prior travel experience is not explicitly required but recent Stepdown experience is essential.
