Job Opportunity: Observation Unit Registered Nurse
Location: Jupiter, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 10 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Observation Unit (Telemetry)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Weekly Hours: 36 hours
- Floating required: Travelers float first and do not have a home unit
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Florida
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
- Experience in a Direct Observation Unit (DOU)
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with Epic and Cerner electronic health record systems
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year residence/work/school history
- Sex offender registry check
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (annual)
- Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Proof of immunity or vaccination per policy
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccination series, or declination with negative titer
- Varicella: Proof of immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination (required during flu season and year-round)
- COVID-19 vaccination proof (dose 1 and fully vaccinated dose 2 if applicable); exemptions accepted with proper documentation
- Drug screening: 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 1 year (instant acceptable)
- Annual competencies and skills checklist as applicable, including:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
Additional Information
- Facility-specific training modules completed during downtime in the first week
- Emergency contact form required prior to start
- Facility parking registration form must be completed
References
- 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 3 years)
This position is ideal for experienced RNs comfortable with telemetry and floating in a fast-paced observation unit night shift setting.
