Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Kingsport, Tennessee

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work on an acute care surgical and bariatric unit
• Schedule: 36 hours on / 36 hours off, every other weekend
• Required to float to other units as needed
• Participate in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care

Requirements

• Valid RN license in Tennessee
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical (MedSurg) nursing experience
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NRP certification
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• State License 1 Verification
• NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)

Orientation

• General orientation begins on Sundays (online CBLs on Sunday)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
• Flexibility in scheduling: hospital may cancel one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes

Required Qualifications & Certifications

• Current, valid Registered Nurse license for Tennessee
• AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification as applicable
• Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC)
• Background checks and verifications including:

  • Education verification
  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start
  • Adult abuse registry check (Tennessee)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 14 days of start
• Immunizations and health requirements including:

  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
  • Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Respirator medical clearance and fit testing as required

Additional Information

• Must comply with facility-specific dress code and uniform guidelines
• Must complete facility-required safety and policy acknowledgments annually
• Photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
• Physical exam required within 1 year of start date
• Candidates should be prepared for possible shift flexing based on census needs
