Job Overview

Location: Utica, New York
Employment type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
Weekly hours: 36
Contract length: 13 weeks
Schedule includes every other weekend
No block schedule guaranteed
Holiday coverage may include Christmas Eve/Day and New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in New York
ED - Emergency Department (3 years of experience)
ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
One completed travel assignment
ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
PALS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
TNCC
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

Pediatric experience

Unit Details

High-acuity emergency department
Level III trauma center
Comprehensive stroke center
Regional cardiac center
68-bed unit with super track, psych, trauma, results pending, and occasional hallway beds
All private rooms
Typical patient ratio target is 1:4 to 1:5, though it may vary with staffing, census, and acuity

Support Staff

PCTs
First-look RN
Triage RN
Charge RN
Secretary
Respiratory therapy
Lab support on occasion
Critical response RN

Clinical Experience

Drips used include TNK, Cleviprex, and Level 1 infusion for MTP

Orientation

Half-day clinical orientation
Half-day shadowing on the unit with a nurse

Additional Notes

Epic familiarity is required
SANE experience may be asked about, and comfort caring for a patient needing that exam may be discussed
Parking is available at no charge
