Pediatric PACU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Seattle, WA
Position Overview
- Specialty: Pediatric Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, Day (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM) or Evening (1:00 PM – 11:30 PM)
- On-Call: Approximately 4 hours every 6 weeks; must be able to arrive within 1 hour when called in
- Weekend: Occasional
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington
- Minimum 2 years of Pediatric PACU (Post Anesthetic Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- Experience with central line management
- Experience caring for tracheostomy patients
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with IV starts, ventilators, and varied pediatric patient populations
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Experience in academic or multiple practice settings with acutely ill patients
Additional Job Details
- On-Call Requirement: Must be willing to meet the same on-call requirements as staff nurses (currently 4 hours every 6 weeks)
- Photo for Badge: Must be submitted within 72 hours of contract signing; photo must have a blue background with no hats or headwear
- Modules: Completion of assigned pre-start training modules (approx. 8 hours) required; Epic test-out modules may be required for inpatient nurses
- Math Test: Proctored math test administered onsite upon arrival; remediation available if needed
- EKG Test: Required for candidates working in PICU, CICU, NICU, and ER; remediation available if needed
Important Notes
- Candidates must be able to respond and arrive within 1 hour when called in for on-call shifts
- Facility requires strict adherence to background checks and health documentation policies
- Respiratory protection training provided by the facility; candidates must be prepared to use N95 and CAPR/PAPR respirators
- Candidates with compact licenses must complete additional state-specific suicide prevention training and demographic updates
This position is ideal for experienced Pediatric PACU RNs with strong pediatric critical care skills and flexibility for on-call duties in a fast-paced, academic environment.
