Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract) - Oregon, Bend

Position Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Location: Bend, Oregon
  • Shift: Night, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (19:00 - 07:30)
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Floating: Yes, may float within scope to low-risk family birthing unit at nearby campus
  • On-call: No
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum of every other weekend or 8 weekend shifts during contract
  • Local candidates: Not accepted (75-mile radius rule)
  • Pending license: Not accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 7 days

Required Experience & Skills

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse with full labor and delivery experience including postpartum care
  • Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years
  • Prior travel experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
  • Epic electronic health record experience: Preferred
  • Staffing skills: Ability to staff according to AWHONN staffing standards; experience working with break RNs and resource RNs

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable
  • AWHONN Intermediate
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider, instructor, or RQI acceptable
  • FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Licensure

  • Must hold an active Registered Nurse license valid in Oregon (primary source verification required)
  • Pending licenses are not accepted

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually, including:
    • SSN trace
    • Counties lived/worked/school
    • FACIS Level 3
    • DOJ Sex Offender Search
    • Nationwide checks
    • Education verification (highest level)
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
  • Diploma or transcript must be on file
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (or declination)
    • Negative TB test (QGold within 1 year) or chest X-ray for positive responders
    • Annual TB questionnaire
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination accepted if low/equivocal)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer required (vaccine series alone not accepted)
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination accepted)
  • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (not required annually)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination/exemption required during flu season (deadline 12/01)
  • COVID vaccination preferred but not required; declination or exemption required if unvaccinated
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually

Documentation & Facility Requirements

  • Passport-style photo with solid background required within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start
  • Completion and signing of confidentiality, contractual access, compliance/privacy, and emergency contact forms within the same timeframe

Competency Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Specialty competency exam annually
  • Annual skills checklist required

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oregon
  • Minimum of 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience
  • Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  • AWHONN Intermediate certification
  • FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring) certification

Traveler friendly. Lots of staff. Busy LDRP but not insanely busy. Bend is a beautiful city with lots of things to do.
