Contract Length

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Dakota or Compact license
  • BLS Certification
  • Minimum 2 years recent OR RN experience
  • Experience with general surgical cases including GYN, Urology, laparoscopic procedures
  • Experience with robotics, DaVinci preferred
  • Experience in large hospital settings (250+ beds, Level 1 trauma center)
  • Experience working in acute care facilities with 15+ OR suites (outpatient center experience not accepted)
  • Experience with some Neuro/Ortho procedures and navigation systems
  • Strong skills in general surgery and ENT
  • Pediatric (Level 2) and ophthalmology (eyes) experience are a plus

Job Duties

  • Circulating nurse responsibilities in the operative setting including:
    • Sterile prepping of surgical sites
    • Catheter insertion
    • Opening sterile supplies
    • Positioning patients for surgery
    • Documenting in electronic medical records
    • Setting up and utilizing operating room equipment

Equipment Used

  • Computerized charting modeled after EPIC system
  • Accudose
  • Cautery, lasers
  • Laparoscopic and arthroscopy equipment

Shift and Schedule

  • 8 to 10 hour shifts
  • May need to stay late as an extension of the regular shift (not call back)
  • Rotate to PM shifts in rotation with staff
  • Call required 1 to 2 days per week and every 3 to 4 weekends
  • Must work any extra shifts picked up; repeated call-ins for extra shifts may result in loss of extra shift privileges

Additional Information

  • May float rarely to other campuses if needed
  • Unit has 25 OR suites with 75 to 100 cases per day on average
  • Nurse to patient ratio is 1:1
  • Scrub color provided: Ceil Blue
  • Travelers living within 60 miles of the facility are not eligible
  • Local travel rate adjustments apply for those living 60 to 80 miles away
  • Candidates who have previously worked for the facility must have ended employment at least 6 months prior to submission

This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with strong acute care and surgical skills looking for a 13-week contract in a high-volume, level 1 trauma hospital setting.
