Registered Nurse (PCU) - Night Shift
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking experienced Registered Nurses for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift in a fast-paced environment caring for adult and geriatric patients with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years as an RN
- At least 1 year of unit-specific PCU experience
- Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications
- Valid driver’s license (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
- Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book skills exam during orientation
Unit Details
- Bed count: 35
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
- Nurse aides/patient care tech ratio: 1:10 or 2:20
- Charge nurse present on each shift (does not take patient assignment)
- RNs are required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
Schedule & Requirements
- Shifts: 12-hour shifts, primarily night (1830-0700) and day (0630-1900)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: Every third holiday
- No call or standby requirement
- Floating to medical floors, ICU, or rehab may be required
- Orientation: 1 week onboarding plus 1-2 days unit-specific orientation
Additional Information
- Candidates must not be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN within 50 miles at any facility associated with a specific large healthcare system
- Artificial nails are prohibited; refusal to comply will result in contract termination
- Return to office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions allowed
- Successful nurses typically demonstrate a positive attitude, teamwork, strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
