Role Summary

• RN role in youth psychiatric services.
• 13-week assignment.
• Day shift, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• BLS (AHA only)
• Indiana RN license or compact license
• Minimum 2 years of youth psych experience
• Registered RN

Preferred

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training

Schedule

• Every other weekend required
• No call required

Unit Details

• No floating
• Unit census/bed count: 600 Hallway has 18 beds; 500 Hallway has 16 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:10

Clinical Responsibilities

• Shift report
• Shared assignment of 13 patients with MHT
• Medication administration after obtaining consent
• Charting on assigned patients
• Managing aggressive situations with team members
• Treatment plan sessions for assigned patients
• Admissions and discharges
• Communication with parents of assigned patients
• Department of Children Services reports

• Epic charting
• Pyxis
• Vital sign machines
• EKG machine
• Phones

Orientation / Training

• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training provided if not already completed
• Orientation to unit programming, including admission and discharge processes
• Orientation to unit expectations, groups, and activities
• Orientation to medication process, including guardian consent
• Education on communication with the Department of Children Services
• Standards of behavior and attendance expectations

Dress Code

• Caribbean blue scrubs
