Registered Nurse — Stepdown Care Unit

Location

• Peoria, Illinois

Contract

• 15 weeks
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• ICU/Intermediate (Stepdown) experience with a 3:1 or 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Trach and ventilator experience

Submission Requirements

• Last four digits of SSN
• Middle initial
• Requested time off

Schedule

• Every other weekend
• Every other holiday rotation
• No call or standby requirement

Unit Details

• 20-bed stepdown unit
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 3:1
• Charge nurse is usually free but may take patients if staffing is not ideal
• 2 patient care techs per shift
• All patients are on bedside monitors; telemetry techs interpret strips and RNs confirm
• Floating is required; travelers float first and may be assigned to ICU, stepdown, or general med based on experience

Clinical Notes

• Unit cares for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including respiratory, cardiac, renal, diabetic, sepsis, and neuro/surgical cases
• Common therapies and devices include BiPAP, CPAP, ventilators, trachs, chest tubes, G tubes, NG tubes, PICC lines, central lines, and titratable drips

Orientation

• 3 days total: EPIC orientation, unit orientation with the educator, and floor orientation with an RN

Additional Notes

• Local placements within 50 miles are accepted
• Drug screen required
• Any scrub color is allowed
