Registered Nurse (RN) – 7W Stepdown Unit

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Unit: 7 West (Stepdown & Floor)

• 32 total beds (12 Stepdown, 20 Floor)
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Stepdown: 1:3
  • Floor: 1:4 to 1:6

Unit Overview

• Patient population: Typical MedSurg cases including Chest Pain, COPD, Altered Mental Status, Pneumonia, UTI, Abdominal Pain, hospice patients (GIP Hospice on 7 West)
• Telemetry unit: RNs must read cardiac strips alongside telemetry monitor techs
• Drip management: Stepdown involves titratable drips; Floor manages PCAs, heparin, etc.
• Respiratory therapy equipment managed by RTs (vents, CPAP, BiPAP)
• Staffing:

  • Charge nurse budgeted per unit
  • House supervisor always available
  • Nurse aides: 4 aides if fully staffed for 32 beds
• Floating: Nurses may be floated to any floor or stepdown unit
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs

Scheduling Requirements

• Weekend shifts: 2 weekends per schedule
• Holidays: Work integrated into permanent staff holiday schedule
• Shift length: 12-hour shifts

Required Certifications & Qualifications

• Current BLS Certification
• Valid driver’s license with address outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
• Fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (2 Moderna or Pfizer shots, or 1 J&J shot) or approved medical/religious exemption
• Prior permanent or travel assignments at this facility require a waiting period before reapplying:

  • Previous permanent candidates must have been gone for 2 years
  • Previous travelers must have been gone for 2 years after completing at least 1 full year

• Maximum of 2 candidates submitted per opening; additional submissions held until a spot opens
