Respiratory Care Practitioner II

Overview

  • Location: Palo Alto, California
  • Schedule: Nights, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in California
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (1 year of experience)
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP
  • PALS issued by American Heart Association
  • Experience working with Neonate or Pediatric patients
  • Experience working with Adult patients
  • Experience in a Critical Care setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care across neonatal, pediatric, and adult patient populations
  • Assist with orientation and training of Level I and Level II therapists and students
  • Perform intra-hospital transports with mechanical ventilators and airway protection, including safe operation in the MRI scanner
  • Deliver nitric oxide, nitrogen, heliox, and other specialty gases
  • Initiate and maintain pulmonary vasodilators
  • Complete orientations in intensive care units and acute care areas
  • Evaluate medical orders and participate in clinical rounds
  • Respond to emergency department consults and emergencies across service areas
  • Educate patients, families, and the care team
  • Serve on the code/rapid response team
