Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (Days)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care for patients in a telemetry/cardiac, stepdown, or progressive care setting.
• Patient populations include CABG (coronary arterial bypass grafting), ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator), pacemaker, cardiac drips, and vascular surgical patients.
• Patient ratios:

  • Days: 1 nurse to 4 patients
  • Nights: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Unit size: 24 beds
• Telemetry monitoring with cardiac rhythm management required.
• Experience with cardiac drips such as Nitro, Cardene, Heparin, Diltiazem, Dopamine, etc.
• Must be able to float across multiple campuses within the local area.
• Use of EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Scrub color: Navy blue solids.
• Required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Orientation date provided (specific date not included here).

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of recent experience in telemetry/cardiac, stepdown, or progressive care nursing.
• Experience with ICD and pacemaker patient care.
• Cardiac rhythm experience required.
• Experience with cardiac drip titration and use of Alaris IV pump and wound vac equipment.
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience highly preferred.
• Must have completed at least one prior travel nursing contract within the last 18 months (no first-time travelers accepted).
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa (multistate license accepted if active in Iowa).
• Current BLS and ACLS certification from AHA or ARC.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Skills checklist specific to telemetry/cardiac, stepdown, or progressive care discipline required.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months preferred.

Work Schedule & Other Details

• Day shift.
• Standard workweek: 36-40 hours; overtime billable after 40 hours.
• Holiday and call-back pay policies apply (details excluded).
• Floating required across multiple campuses within a 50-mile radius.
