Job Opportunity: CT Technologist (Night Shift) – Travel/Contract

Location

  • New York, NY

Position Summary

Seeking an overnight CT Technologist with X-Ray skills to support a low-volume, steady-paced orthopedic imaging setting. The role involves working independently during night shifts in a specialty hospital environment.

Schedule

  • Night shift: Midnight to 8:30 AM, Monday through Friday
  • Initial 2 weeks: Day shift training before transitioning to night shift
  • 40 hours per week

Caseload & Patient Population

  • Up to 20 patients per shift (may be fewer due to low volume)
  • Patient age groups: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
  • Orthopedic exams performed in exam rooms or via portable equipment
  • Work may rotate across multiple departments or private sector locations nearby

Work Settings & Experience

  • Experience in outpatient, inpatient, ER, and adult ICU settings preferred
  • General skills: Portable imaging
  • X-ray procedures: Extremities, Spine/Pelvis, Head, Chest/Thorax, Musculoskeletal, Lower and Upper Extremities
  • CT procedures: Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Spine, Musculoskeletal, Brain Perfusion, CT Angiographies (CTAs), Multiplanar Reconstruction
  • Experience operating Siemens equipment preferred
  • Epic system experience preferred

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CT Technologist license in New York
  • CT Technologist with 2 years of experience
  • CT Technologist experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • IV Certification
  • DOHNYS certification
  • ARRT CT certification
  • ARRT Radiography (R) certification
  • Experience in an outpatient setting
  • Experience in an inpatient setting
  • X-Ray Technician experience

Contract Length

  • 8 weeks

  • Scrubs color: Charcoal Grey

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including Social Security Trace, New York State search, county/statewide searches, FACIS Level 3, sex offender database, nationwide and international searches if applicable)
  • Education verification required (high school/GED minimum for allied travelers unless higher degree held)
  • SAM and OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if educated outside the US and degree verification is problematic
  • Drug screen: Aya standard 9-panel drug test within 1 year of start (not required for subcontractors)
  • Physical exam and general health assessment within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask (N95) test within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers required within specified timeframes:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella titers with vaccination follow-up if needed
    • Hepatitis B positive titer or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually by November 1

Training and Competency Requirements

  • HIPAA Acknowledgement
  • Harassment Prevention Training (New York specific, annual)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (Relias)
  • Color Blind Testing (100% score required)
  • Unit-specific Competency Exam (Relias)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (pass/fail, time sensitive, not required for allied travelers)
  • Core Parts I, II, III and OSHA Mandatory training (annual, Relias; not required for allied/tech staff)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) for applicable units
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing if applicable

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Hard copy of New York State Radiologic Technologist license with green border and signed by licensee required before start or proof of ordering license accepted
  • Photo for badge: Color, plain white/light background, waist-up, no filters or headwear (except religious), submitted within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Various facility-specific documents and agreements must be reviewed and signed (e.g., Code of Conduct, Privacy & Confidentiality, Drug-Free Workplace Policy, Quality & Safety Practices, Staff Handbook)
  • New Beginnings Packet review and acknowledgement
  • Onboarding and continuing education modules to be completed within 30 days of start and as required throughout assignment

References and Employment History

  • Two manager/supervisor references required (charge nurse not acceptable unless approved)
  • Verification of all current and previous employment within last 7 years
  • Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and uploaded

Additional Notes

  • First-time travelers accepted for this unit
  • Must be comfortable working independently due to low patient volume on night shift
