Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (10:30 AM - 11:00 PM)
  • On-Call: Yes, 1 weekend 24-hour call per month (Saturday or Sunday)
  • Holiday Coverage: Possible holiday shifts required
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years as a Registered Nurse
  • Specialty Experience: Must be able to circulate in all services including CT, Vascular, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Colorectal, Robotics, Bariatric
  • Preferred Experience: Scrubbing cardiac and vascular cases highly preferred
  • First-Time Travelers: Not accepted

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification only
  • Radiation Badge (provided by agency) - Required for CVOR RNs
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., PALS, TNCC)

Licensure

  • Must hold an active, unencumbered South Carolina RN license or compact license
  • Primary source verification required
  • Temporary "walk-through" license process available for eligible candidates (no prior background issues)

Job Responsibilities

  • Circulate in multiple surgical specialties as listed above
  • Participate in on-call rotation and holiday coverage as needed
  • Adhere to facility policies including emergency response during hurricane season (June-November)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Complete employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • Background checks including 7-year history, criminal, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions
  • Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting to ability to meet physical demands
  • Fit test for N95 mask within 90 days of start, renewed annually
  • Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or vaccines)
    • Varicella (chickenpox)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Color blindness testing prior to start
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Radiation badge required before starting clinical work

Additional Notes

  • Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Facility may call off traveler for up to 1 shift per 2-week pay period
  • Orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
  • Passport-style photo required for badge issuance before start date
  • Travelers must upload vaccination records and complete all required modules in the facility’s system prior to orientation
  • Emergency response assignments may be required during hurricane season (June-November)

This is a travel contract opportunity for an experienced CVOR Registered Nurse with at least 2 years of perioperative nursing experience, including circulating in multiple surgical specialties. Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR experience, with CVOR experience within the last year
  • Experience in Bariatric, Surgical Oncology, Plastic Surgery, and Colo-Rectal Surgery
  • Circulating experience in CT
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
