Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Travel/Contract)
Location: Charlottesville, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Weekend shifts required; scheduled days will vary based on staffing needs
- Nights shifts included
- Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed
- Work hours: 36 or 48 hours per week
- Every other holiday required
- Maximum 40 hours approved for time off
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia (can submit with license pending)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Emergency Department (ED) or Emergency Room (ER) nursing, with at least 2 years in the job specialty
- Emergency Department experience within the last year
- At least 1 year of Level 1 experience, or 2 years of Level 2 experience, including some pediatric patient experience
- Experience working with pediatric patients
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association, must have before start; can submit with pending
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification, must have before start; can submit with pending
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – must have before start; can submit with pending
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – must have before start; can submit with pending
License Requirements
- Valid Virginia RN license required (can submit with license pending)
Key Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, education verification, and abuse registry search (if applicable)
- Drug testing within 2 months of start, including 10-panel with marijuana and fentanyl
- Physical exam within 12 months attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and titers: Tdap, TB (2-step PPD or Qgold), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination (no exemptions accepted)
- Fingerprinting required for behavioral health candidates
- Pass/Fail cardiac rhythm assessment required during orientation for adult inpatient RN positions
- Professional appearance guidelines and other facility-specific compliance forms to be reviewed and acknowledged

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- References and clinical evaluations may be required for credentialing
- Some certifications may be preferred or required depending on unit assignment (e.g., NRP, Chemotherapy certification, EFM) but are not mandatory for this role unless specified
