Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Saint Louis, Missouri
Employment Type
- Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift Details
- Night shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Total 36 hours per week
Job Description
- Experience required with adults, adult critical care, and emergency department (ED)
- Level 1 Trauma center experience required
- Teaching hospital experience required
- EPIC electronic health record system experience required
- Every other weekend required
- Dress code: Khaki or black bottoms with royal blue top
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience working with adult patients
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
Required Competencies and Exams
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for ICU, ED, Telemetry, PCU, Step Down units)
- Skills checklist required
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 12 months prior to start, including SSN trace, 7-year county residence/work history, nationwide search, and sex offender search
- Missouri-specific Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) and EDL search required prior to start
- Government-issued photo ID required
- E-Verify compliance required
Health and Safety Requirements
- Negative drug screen within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months; chest X-ray within 5 years if prior positive PPD
- TB questionnaire required at start and annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually (deadline December 5)
- Preferred: COVID vaccination series documentation
- OSHA Respirator Clearance required prior to start for fit testing (fit test completed onsite during first week of orientation)
- Fit testing required annually; must be clean-shaven for fit test at this facility
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific modules assigned via LMS platform; modules updated annually
- Post-start orientation checklists required
- ICU/CCU and Cath Lab candidates must complete Abiomed Impella online training annually (outside LMS)
- Photo for badge required (passport style, plain background)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete confidentiality and ethical conduct agreements prior to start
- Physical exam within 1 year indicating good health required (Aya standard)
- References: Two professional references required for new candidates (Aya standard)
- Medication/Pharmacology exam and general competency exams required for new candidates (Aya standard)
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a focus on adult critical care and trauma. Candidates should be prepared for night shifts and meet all licensure, certification, and compliance requirements.
